Taking that step…

11/10/08

Well, up to this point I have considered myself a complete novice when it comes to websites and for sure blogging. I am what you call a rookie. I have taken that step so to speak and decided to dive in and try to figure it all out. What I am beginning to see is that it is not that difficult to understand when it has all the software that basically does everything for ya. This may not be the greatest looking website or blog but hopefully you will understand that I am trying and doing my best!

Now that I said that, this blog has been designed to try and help keep the youth of Joyful Sound Worship Center informed on “stuff” that will be taking place as well as enlightening thoughts (at least I hope so…) from me and maybe on occasion from my wonderful wife Jill.

For the past few weeks I have felt impressed (at teen class) to use stories and excerpts from Joel Osteen’s book “Your Best Life Now” as a guide for our weekly lessons. This book was given to me as a birthday gift (the BIG 30) a couple of years ago from a very godly lady from our church, Helen Lively. This book set on my night stand for over a year and I had the very best of intentions to read and me not being a big reader just sort of kept putting it off and putting it off, until one night I opened the pages and began to read and I could not hardly lay it down. There is so much wisdom in this book and I get something new out of it every time I open it up. Some of the things that has ministered to me, is the fact that we all have our own sets of trials and tests. It may not be a big deal to some people but when it’s your faith that is being tested or your getting close to the fire and your feeling the presures or the heat, then it becomes a pretty big deal. But the key is realizing that for every problem there is a solution, we may not know what it is but God does. That is where our faith must be activated and our responsibility is seeing in our own mind and heart that we sometimes have to change in order for a situation to turn around. It’s easy to point a finger and lay blame, but we have to look at our own selves and know that we have the power with God’s help to change, and what I talked about Sunday was that it usually starts with that one little word called ATTITUDE! We truly can choose how our attitude is going to be, we may not be able to pick the adversity or the situation but how we react will determine whether or not we will be successful in most situations.

One song that I am listening to a lot here lately is called “Everlasting God” by Lincoln Brewster. This song talks about how our strength will be empowered when we wait upon the Lord and that God reigns forever and that our hope is in Him and that he is our strong deliverer. The book of Isaiah talks about they that wait upon the Lord their strength will be renewed…when we learn to wait much like a waiter or a waitress waits on a table then our strength will be renewed. If you don’t know about the song that I am talking about, go to I-Tunes and download that song, it will cost you 99 cents (make sure you have permission) It’s an awesome song with a pretty cool beat. Have a great day!…

Now that is a pretty nice blog, if I do say so myself. And yes, you do have a beautiful wife. The 3 ‘B’’s are pretty cute too.
You guys are awsome! I don’t know how you do so much. I think this is a really great idea though. Young people do like their computers. And it’s great to know there is some wonderful stuff out there for them. I have that book too, but, alas, I have not read it yet! But since you talked so nicely about it, I guess I better get on the stick. Oh yeah, what is this I have been hearing about, ‘the monkey email’?
